Inspiration Files: A Basement Laundry

Do you have one of those fancy, pretty, clean, bright laundry rooms? Not me! About the only thing my laundry area has going for it is that it works. Oh, and it doesn't matter that it's not pretty, because no one sees it. Except I really would like it to be pretty, because then maybe I'd be a little more inclined to do laundry. Right?

Our laundry facility is in our basement, so when I saw this basement laundry in a Better Homes & Gardens magazine awhile back, I fell in love immediately. There is hope for basement laundries! Hope that doesn't also mean a million and six dollars for a space no one else will see!

Isn't is refreshingly clean and simple? I think the curtained walls really warm up the brick walls in a basement. I love the folding station and a few places to put supplies. For more ideas, go see the slideshow at bhg.com.

Are you inspired?

  1. Love this room. Mine is so much smaller.
I also love the tour in your home.
I didn`t have time to visit blogs in a while, so I missed some posts.

  2. I think the bh&g room has some good ideas. My laundry/mud room was redone with our house and my only regret is not making it larger. It's one of the most used rooms in the house. It's not in the basement but we did drywall the basement and painted, which was a huge improvement. I'm all for finishing them. Thanks so much for stopping by Ellie. Jane F

  3. This really is great. I, too, have a basement laundry room. I did my best to brighten the space up, but it still has a long way to go. Thanks for sharing, liz

  4. I've been lusting over beautiful laundry rooms lately! I really want to dress mine up! Alas that is the LAST room on the home improvement list...

Thanks for stopping by my blog last week! I'll definitely be following here! :)

  5. I totally know what you mean. Our laundry room is in our basement and I spend a little bit of money and some time making it nice. I knew we would never get around to really refinishing it so I just did what I could and I love it. It was enough to make it pretty in my eyes and so I didn't dread going down to the dark hole we had before the improvements.
