I love stockings and we have a really cute collection of them--mostly from my Mom. Thanks, Mom! My husband and I bought a set with a matching tree skirt (which you can catch a glimpse of here) for our first Christmas together six years ago. Mom has bought the boys stockings as they've joined the family.
The problem is that we don't have a mantle! We have a very effective woodburning stove in the living room and someday it will get a decorative mantle...
For now we needed a different solution! Inspired by the stocking-hanger signs I've seen on Etsy and around blogland, I came up with my own version. And I'm IN LOVE!!! I'm completely thrilled with how it turned out. Don't you just love it when that happens?!
My husband cut lengths of fencing that we he pulled down around the property.
I painted them one coat of white, then used stencils for the letters.
I traced around a snowflake ornament, then filled it in with paint.
I added mug hooks to the bottom of the boards and two picture-hanging dealy-bobs (official term) to the back. I found that if I only added one hanger the sign wouldn't stay straight unless the stockings weighed exactly the same.
Aren't they so fun?!
Fun and cute! Merry Christmas!
