Inspiration Files: Moving Tips

I finally started packing this weekend! Don't ask me how few many boxes I packed; it's a start! Once I get started I do a pretty good job keeping up the pace. It's those first few boxes that are hard to do. Once my home is less decorated and feels less settled, it's easier to keep going.

We have about six weeks left here in Iowa. We're hoping and praying that our house sells before then. We have a showing today, so keep that in your prayers too! My husband sold his car this weekend, and someone is interested in the tractor. It all seems real now!

(If you missed the reason why we're moving, go here and read this.)

Since I like to keep it real on my little outlet of a blog, I spent awhile sleuthing down some packing and moving advice from the experts. Our move is a little more complicated because the first step is 4 months of training, then we're not sure if we're going to settle somewhere or enroll in a longer schooling stint. Most of our stuff is going into storage to be moved later. The rest will get put on a small trailer and hauled across the US a couple times. I guess we'll get to experience living like minimalists!

Anyone else up for a move soon? Any tips on packing while keeping your house ready to show and your three little boys entertained?

  3. You are so smart and organized to get started ahead of time. Years ago, we had a house for sale for 2 years, always trying to keep it in show condition with 5 kids from baby to 8 yrs. The last one was for sale for several months when we had all 8 kids, ages 1 to 17. I empathize with anyone trying to sell a house!

I'm praying for the right buyer for your house to come quickly.

  7. My biggest tip is to just try to stay as relaxed as possible and look forward. Hiring a cheap dumpster rental is a great option if you wan to get rid of a lot of clutter and start fresh somewhere else. I have been a traveling nurse for eight years and I have been lucky on finding great moving companies and appliance delivery services that have catered to my needs. Hope your move went smooth!

  12. Hey! I know this is kind of off-topic however I needed
to ask. Does managing a well-established blog like yours require a large amount of work?
I'm completely new to writing a blog however I do write in my journal every day. I'd
like to start a blog so I can easily share my experience and thoughts online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of suggestions or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers.

  13. Selling your house is easy if you can make it look attractive to buyers. One way is to keep everything in order is to keep your house clean all the time. First impression lasts. Be sure to make a good one.

  14. We just bought a new house and we’re planning to move in next month. These tips are a great help to me and for sure, for the rest of your readers. Boxes are not just efficient when you’re moving out. You can also use it to organize your things, especially those you don’t usually use so often and those items that you don’t wanna dispose of ‘til now because of its sentimental value. ;)
