We have a big strawberry patch in our garden.
It was planted last fall so the plants are just getting established. Despite this, there are some huge red berries that we've gotten to enjoy recently. They're SO much sweeter than store-bought berries!
But I've noticed that something has been eating, well, taking nibbles of the ripe strawberries! Can you imagine?!
Well, today I caught the thief. Any guesses?
Rabbit? Bird? Mouse? Raccoon? Skunk? Small children?
Nope.
It was this guy:
That's it, Jude! Those berries are coming out of your allowance!
Anything (or anyone) uninvited eating goodies from your garden?
We have wild strawberries, and the chipmunks eat them. Something (woodchuck?) got our squash blossoms, but we still have plenty of tomatoes. Your pooch looks sorry about getting caught. You can't stay mad at a face like that. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny...and surprising...that dogs like berries and will pick them for themselves? They don't smell like meat or something rotten, or anything that seems good to dogs. ;-) And it's always the nicest, ripe ones.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! I had a cocker spaniel that would do that too! She'd gently nip off the strawberry and eat it! My problem is I didn't have many to spare! Gotta love 'em!
ReplyDeleteBad pup, but just too cute to be mad at for long! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the garden party,
Candy
